NYC Subway Fight Analysis

During a trip to NYC, Patrick of Code Red Defense recorded a fight that happened in the NYC subway. The fight started slowly, but then picked up slowly as time was going on.

In this clip, we analyse the good points and elements that should have been improved such as bringing the hands up to protect the centerline, as well as footwork skills and optimal fighting stances to be adopted in a fight.

As you can see in the clip, one of the 2 men, seems to not be interested in fighting while the other man, seems to be much more aggressive and looking to fight. At one point, one of the two fighters squares off and goes for punches. His opponent (the person defending), uses his footwork skills to move around and avoid getting punched.

You can learn a lot from their mistakes. This video demonstrates many fighting mistakes that can easily be corrected for your personal safety. It's great that you are interested in learning self defense. It's by learning in advance, that you can be better prepared to face any type of fight.

Your comments are always appreciated.

Apr 11, 2017 - In NYC if a guy has his hands lowered means he is fast enough to dodge your punches no matter how fast your punch is. Just letting you know.

Apr 11, 2017 - YOU ARE WAY TOO TALKY!!!!!. You also over do it with the graphics. NOT NEEDED!!! You also never mentioned that if the defender had his hands raised in an "open" position, that's a universal sign recognized as "I don't want any trouble" - that would've been recorded & ALSO PROTECTED HIM FROM ANY PUNCH. It could've been used against the attacker in a court of law, but your hands HAVE TO BE OPEN, THEY'LL STILL PROTECT YOUR FACE & CENTER LINE & IF NEED BE, YOU CAN ALWAYS COUNTER WITH A PALM STRIKE ANYWHERE TO THE HEAD. Also a "Teep" push kick can discourage an aggressor, just ask Rhonda Rousey!
